Spotlight on Ruby Bonilla

Ruby Bonilla is the General Manager at Liberty State Insurance in Takoma Park, Maryland. She has been at the company since 2013, when she joined her husband, Bayron, in the business. Ruby enjoys helping people with their insurance needs as well as the business side of the job.

Ruby explains that the majority of Liberty State’s clients are a part of the Hispanic/Latino community. “Maryland Auto Insurance provides coverage for drivers who may not qualify elsewhere,” Ruby says. “Maryland Auto allows us to serve them more effectively. Especially those who face challenges such as having no prior insurance history, using alternative forms of identification, or holding an out-of-country license.” Ruby also notes that Maryland Auto’s ability to offer one-year policies instead of the six-month policies offered by other carriers is a benefit to her customers, as they have to worry about renewing as often and feel more secure.

The entire staff at Liberty State speaks Spanish, which allows them to communicate effectively with their Hispanic clients. Ruby says that the language barrier and lack of familiarity with the insurance industry can be a challenge for many. “Patience is key in taking the time to educate clients instead of rushing through the process. This shows that you truly care about them and are invested in their needs, not just the sale,” she says.
