Local degree and certificate programs can provide a head start for a career in the insurance industry.

Whether you are interested in a bachelor’s degree or a professional certificate, there are a variety of concentrations and programs offered around Maryland. Specializations include business administration, risk management, help desk professional, casualty specializations, and more. Local programs are supported by organizations like the Maryland Insurance Commission and the National Association of Insurance Professionals. College Degree and Certification Programs

University of Baltimore

The University of Baltimore is the only college in Maryland that offers an Insurance Degree Program. This concentration helps you gain a further understanding of how insurance operates on both a personal and enterprise level.

Community College of Baltimore County offers a Fundamentals of Insurance course that enhances students understanding of insurance risk for individuals, businesses, and society.

This program trains students to be well-versed in the insurance field by educating them on consultancy, customer service, front-line underwriting, quotations, claims, and agency management systems. Many insurance companies and agents offer internship and apprenticeship opportunities. These programs provide high school and college students with a great introduction to the insurance industry.
