Maryland Auto Insurance seeks an entry to mid-level Software Developer to join our software development team. The position includes supporting projects that span all phases of the software development life cycle, including requirements analysis, design, development, test, and customer support. As part of our team, this developer will participate in new project growth areas to meet the needs of our insurance customers, agents, and underwriting and claims groups.

Job duties include:

The duties of this position will consist of managing complex programming projects beginning with the statement of a problem through the delivery of a completed system or series of inter-related systems. The incumbent will interpret business requirements and identify solutions to meet business objectives.  The candidate will design, code, test and implement application programs, as well as support existing applications. The person selected for this position may attend special course offerings in the information technology field in the interest of acquiring skills and/or keeping abreast with technological changes

Requirements:

Position requires a BS/BA degree, preferably in Computer Science or Information Systems, and at least four years of application development. The successful candidate must have strong analytical and communication skills, be motivated, and works under own initiative. Prior experience in the insurance or in the financial industry is preferred but not required. Additional related experience may substitute for the college education on a year-for-year basis.

Additional Information:

This position reports to an IT Supervisor, and does not supervise other employees. The work hours are 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; flextime is available with prior supervisory approval. Additional hours worked, with prior supervisory approval, will be compensated as compensatory time.
