Maryland Auto Insurance seeks candidates to fill a Casualty Litigation Adjuster position in our Baltimore office at McHenry Row. Litigation Claims Adjusters investigate and price all aspects of bodily injury claims, manage litigation, direct defense counsel, and handle more complex higher-exposure injury claims.

Job duties include:

  • Negotiate bodily injury settlements
  • Analyze facts of each case and consider all possible defenses
  • Work with defense counsel on the best strategy
  • Complete suit assignments, trial reviews, and injury evaluations
  • Maintain a proactive diary for timely follow up
  • Control litigation expenses and resolve cases with the best result
  • Review and respond to all legal correspondences in a timely manner
  • Handle suits within the parameters of the litigation procedures
  • Testify at trial

Travel is generally limited to defense firms, pre-trials, trials, and ADR conferences.

Requirements:

Qualified applicants will possess a bachelor’s degree and at least two years experience handling automobile liability claims, including experience managing litigation.

Additional claims experience may be substituted on a year‑for year basis for the required education. Bodily injury claims handling experience is a plus. Additional college education may substitute for the required claims experience at a rate of 30 credits for one year of experience.

Additional Information:

This position reports to a Claim Supervisor and does not supervise other employees. The work hours are 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; flextime and some teleworking may be available with prior supervisor approval. Additional work time, also with prior supervisory approval, may be necessary during evenings, weekends, and holidays, and will be compensated as compensatory time.
