“I am deeply saddened by the passing of former Maryland Insurance Commissioner Kathleen Birrane,” said Maryland Auto’s Executive Director, and former Maryland Insurance Commissioner, Al Redmer, Jr. “When I was appointed Insurance Commissioner in 2003, Kathleen served as my Principal Counsel. I was extremely happy when she was appointed to succeed me in the position when I moved on to Maryland Auto Insurance. Public service ran in her blood. Her father also served as the Insurance Commissioner, and she shared his passion for service to the residents of Maryland. Kathleen was a brilliant lawyer with an unmatched work ethic. We were friends for over 20 years and she will be missed.”
