Maryland Auto is seeking a dynamic candidate to direct and supervise a team of Special Investigations Unit (SIU) and Field Claim Representatives. This position will support Maryland Auto by preventing, detecting and investigating auto insurance fraud. This position is located at Maryland Auto’s Baltimore office, located at 1215 East Fort Avenue, part of Locust Point’s McHenry Row community. However, this will be a working supervisor position, requiring some field work.

Job duties include:

  • Interviewing SIU/FCR applicants and making hiring recommendations
  • Training and developing SIU and FCR staff
  • Developing and mentoring SIU/FCR employees to achieve high levels of quality, service, and teamwork
  • Assigning cases to SIU/ FCRs
  • Reviewing claim files and determining a course of action
  • Reviewing completed SIU investigations for approval
  • Compiling reports for management, MIA and NICB
  • Evaluating work performance of assigned employees
  • Initiating salary adjustments, promotions, and disciplinary actions
  • Approving work and leave time of assigned employees
  • Attending pre-trial hearings for claims in litigation
  • Completing Field Service Requests as needed
  • Training claim staff on recognizing questionable claims
  • Working with law enforcement, NICB, MIA and other entities to address issues of auto insurance fraud in Maryland
  • Working with peer companies to identify best practices for preventing, detecting, and investigating auto insurance fraud

Additional Information:

This position will report to a Claims Manager and will supervise other employees. This is a flextime position scheduled for 40 hours each week. Duties of the position may require work during evenings, weekends or holidays. Additional hours worked, with prior supervisory approval, will be compensated as compensatory time.

Requirements:

Qualified candidates will have a bachelor degree and at least four years of experience in automobile liability claims with some investigation experience. Additional experience may substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis. Prior supervisory experience preferred. Fluency in both English and Spanish is a plus.
