Maryland Auto Insurance seeks a motivated and organized individual to fill the position of Commercial Underwriter. This position is located at Maryland Auto’s Baltimore office, located at 1215 East Fort Avenue, part of Locust Point’s McHenry Row community.
Qualified candidates must be able to multi-task in a busy customer service-oriented environment.
Duties to include:
- Provides customer service for producers, premium finance companies, and policyholders by answering questions related to eligibility issues and/or ratings as well as assisting with other general problem resolutions
- Underwrites risks and rates
- Processes new business, renewals, rewrites, endorsements, cancellations, and back-end audits
- Develops public relations with producers, premium finance companies, etc.
- Provides support, in-person and via phone or email, to producers through training services/product features
- Serves as a liaison between internal and external customers to obtain information from producers and share this information with the appropriate personnel at Maryland Auto
- Conducts producer audits of a complex nature
- May analyze statistical data, business processes, and business requirements
- participates in rate testing or other systems testing exercises
- Performs other duties as required by management
Additional Information:
This position will report to an Underwriting Supervisor and will not supervise other employees. This is a flextime position scheduled for 40 hours each week. Duties of the position may require work during evenings, weekends or holidays. Additional hours worked, with prior supervisory approval, will be compensated as compensatory time.
Requirements:
Qualified applicants will possess a high school diploma and three to seven years of experience working for an insurance company, agency, or broker.
